8/15/2010 Product or Service Involved: i-Cinema i-HD2 5.1 Surround Speaker system Long story short, I was duped into buying a phony 5.1 surround sound speaker set out of a van. With a little research, I would have saved myself a huge, depressing headache and $550USD. I was leaving the ATM of a Bank of America and head back to my car which now had a light blue van parked next to it (Toyota Sienna or Honda Odyssey). He came across as enthusiastic and in a bit of a rush, even admitting that he felt weird for asking me to buy speakers out of a van, playing on my incredulity. He was supposedly a delivery driver for Audio Concept, LLC (NOT Audio Concepts) and that he had extra speaker sets from a shipping mistake. He said that 4 of 6 he was carrying had already been sold to a casino and that he didn't want the remaining to be repo'd by union tech workers or something like that. He let me inspect them, and there was a full system of speakers inside, and they work fine, but it is cheap in manufacture and design. *The MSRP was printed as A PART OF THE PICTURE of the label on the box, which is NOT legitimate. NO manufacturer does this. It was not a price sticker, it was a part of the image printing on the box. WATCH OUT FOR THIS! He showed me a business license, which looked legit needless to say. It reported him as a driver under the name of "Gordon Martinez." I should have gotten his driver license info too. I did not get the license plate number. I should have. I SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN THE LICENSE PLATE NUMBER. I've since been on the lookout for that van. I contacted the police about it. Sadly but expectedly, they couldn't do much without the license plate number. Further, I was still out of luck since I did in fact enter into an agreement for the transaction. All I could do is, if I found him again, call the police and report "suspected distribution of goods without a (proper) business license" and that would be all an officer could inspect. The officer assured me that sometimes this is all they need if that individual has a warrant out for his arrest. If it seems too good to be true, it is, for lack of more colorful language.

8/1/2010 Product or Service Involved: Protechnik Pt 580 speaker, amplifier and 3 D optic Projector I was driving on the road when the driver in the SUV on my right lane asked if I want to buy a home theater system. He asked me to stop by the road to look at the stuff he got. The items looked really good and he also showed me a magazine that featured the items he was trying to sell. He assured they were not stolen but simply received extra from the warehouse. From that I was talked into believing this items were real quality products. I was scammed out of $2,000. I am still in shock. The items I bought were a set of speakers Protechnich PT 580, an amplifier Pt 580 A, and a 3D optic Projector. Looking back I should have picked up all the signs. For example, they only wanted to sell for cash only, no check. They claimed to be professional installers who were in a rush to sell these items. One of them even wore the company shirt called M&G Audio Visual, they claimed to be located in Lynnwood Washington. The guy with the company shirt even showed me the driver's license from out of state: Butler, William M. Date of Birth: 1/16/78 Driver's license: S148277030 The license plate of the White SUV were 692 YYU. I didn't get any personal information from his partner. I hope they don't do this to anyone else.

7/30/2010 Product or Service Involved: Kinetic I pulled into a gas station near a strip mall, (which also happened to have at least three banks within walking distance), and a man approached me from a black SUV parked in front of me. I later learned that his name is Greggo. He straight up asked me if I wanted to buy some really nice speakers for a rediculously low price. He seemed very aware that this seemed like a scam, voicing his concern about how weird this sounded. I initialy was reluctant, but agreed to at least go over to the van and look at what he was offering. Inside was several boxes of nice looking speakers (Kinetic Brand, which i had never heard of), and another man sitting in the front seat (I forget his name). Greggo told me that they were hi-def speakers that beat out Bose at some sound contest that he probably made up, and proceded to give a bunch of technical information which was probably fabricated as well. I found this all very facsinating and tempting. He then informed me that the original price was $2000, and launched into an elaborate story of how him and his partner (in the front seat), who are speaker delivery and instalation men, were accidentally delivered two pairs of speakers instead of two sets. They were going to meet their boss in 10 minutes at their next delivery, and if he found out about the extras, he was going to take it home without paying them anyting, as was the case with a plasma tv earlier in the year. He told me that they just wanted to get some money out of it so that it didn't happen again. He even showed me a fake receipt to prove that it was $1999.99. I was still feeling ambivilant, but i asked him how much he was offering. He said his lowest price was $400. I told him that I wasn't sure, because I didn't know how my parents would react. I also said that I didn't have $400 in my account to spend, I only had about $300. He tried to persuade me some more, saying how good it would sound hooked up to an xbox (which i had mentioned before). I began to show some signs that I was interested, commenting on how good it would look in my room, or how happy my dad would be to have a hi-def sound system to go with our hi-def flatscreen. Greggo said that all I would have to do was pay him now and try it out, and we could meet up at a bar or something and I could buy him a beer, and if I didn't like them, I could give them back (I laughed at that and told him that I was sixteen, and he seemed genuinely amazed, saying that he guessed that I was at least 18 or 19. If this was legitimate, or if he was just trying to flatter me, I don't know. But I was flattered.) Finally, I said that I was sold on it, but I couldn't pay for it with my own money. I suggested calling my dad to see if he was impressed enough to allow me to use his money. Greggo was quick to protest to that idea, saying that my dad would never agree to buying something from a random guy at a gas station. I thought about it for a moment, and then agreed. He wouldn't like it. On that note, I told him again that I would really like to buy the speakers, but I actually didn't have enough money, and I was sorry. He shrugged, said it was okay, and walked back towards his SUV. As I was aobut to get back into my car, the other man, who was sitting in the front seat the whole time, and had only said a few words, got out and ran up, calling for me to wait. He told me: "Okay we can sell it for 200, 100 for each of us, and that way you will still have some money left in your account". I thought about it for a couple seconds, and made a decision that I was not 100 percent on. But, being the naive, sheltered, upper middle class ciziten that i am, I had faith in humanity. I felt some sympathy for these guys. I agreed. I told him that my bank was just down the road, and there was an ATM there. He said that he didn't know where it was, and asked if he could ride in my car there while Greggo followed in the SUV. I agreed, and he went and got the box and put it in my backseat. On the way there, we chatted some more about how I looked older than sixteen to him, and that how when was my age he looked way younger. He also opened the box to show me that the speakers were actually there. It had crossed my mind that I might be scammed by an empty box, but not that i might be scammed with speakers that were just terrible quality. At the drive-through ATM, I withdrew $200 and gave it to the man. I also asked if I could have the reciept, because I knew that my parents liked to keep the receipts of everything that they owned. He went over to his SUV and talked to Greggo for a minute. When he came back he told me that they needed it to show their boss so that he wouldn't know that they sold one off the street for 90% off. This didn't completely make sense, as it wasn't consistent with what Greggo had initially told me, but hey, what do I know of buisiness? He did give me a peice of paper with Greggo's phone number, and the name of a company, Premiere Audio Group, and a note saying that he sold it to me for $200, with his signiture. I thanked him, and we parted. When I got home, my mom was initially happy, yet skeptical, and told me to look up the product (Kinetic KA-6100). I immediately came accross pages and pages of reports of people getting scammed, including this one. I refused to beleive it, so I looked up Premiere Audio Group, and that is indeed the company that these two men work for, but it is a scam company that ships in cheap products and trains men like these two on how to scam people. My mom called the phone number that they gave me, and all we got was a message saying that "Greggo's inbox is full". We called the local police and told them what happened. The woman sighed, said "oh this again", and said she would send some units over there to moniter. But they were probably already far away, laughing about conning yet another stupid person, even a naive sixteen year old, and scouting their next unsuspecting target.

The one guy said his name was Jake. Dark hair, buff, about 5'8" or so. Other guy didn't get out of the vehicle, was wearing a BestBuy shirt and sunglasses, light brown hair. 6/16/2010 Product or Service Involved: Pro Technik 525 Was driving to my friends house, while waiting for a left turn I had my windows down and this Black SUV pulls over next to me and asks me if I want a free Surround sound system,I follow him to a safeway in Newcastle (near Factoria) parking lot, he tells me the story everyone has heard of and then I being young and foolish lost 320 bucks, he wanted 400,the funny thing is that on the way i almost take the turn for my friends house,I had a gut feeling, I should have followed it. Congratulations Mr smart guy, I now know that nothing in life is free...Lesson Learned.

6/11/2010 Product or Service Involved: Kinetic As I was turning into a Walmart parking lot, some guy passed me in a silver SUV yelling out of his window about having a good surround sound system that he'll sell to me for next to nothing. I noticed he was wearing a BEST BUY shirt so I told him to meet me in the parking lot. When he pulled up he started going on about how he got an few extra systems on a shipping error, and if he took it back, his boss would just pack it up and take it home. He told me he just got done selling one for $600. He showed me an invoice with a price of $2,495 right below a BOSE system worth only $1,500. He told me he would sell it to me for $500. I called my wife and she said we didn't have the cash, so I told the guy trying to sell me the speakers. He asked me what I could give him for it. When I told him only a couple hundred bucks, he said he would find someone else. His partner in the passenger seat then spoke up and said to hell with it, they could give it to me for a couple hundred if I could throw in a little beer money on top of it. When all was said and done, I paid them $260 for some speakers without an amplifier that are probably worth next to nothing. When I got home I googled the speaker brand and came upon this site.

6/10/2010 Product or Service Involved: Forgot, but it had a wireless connection to Sony bravia wireless Same as all the rest but this white male w/ blonde styled hair pink shirt driving a newer chevy tahoe with 3 sets of these "$3000" speaker systems in the back of his truck waved me down from his vehical as i was turning a corner. he did his speach and it sound so good i called my wife and begged and pleaded to allow me to buy this for $300. She SAID NO. so i told him this and he brought the price down again to $275 i called the wife again and she still said NO. the guy showed me all kinds of paperwork for proof that this is a legit deal. in the end the wife is almost always right.

4/16/2010 Product or Service Involved: ProTechnik I was approached at a gas station by 2 white guys in a white SUV. 1 stayed in the car while the other got out and told me about the delivery "mixup." He said they needed to get rid of their merchandise. I said no 3 times, but he kept insisting they would take anything. I then offered 100 bucks, which he took. I got a 310a (receiver) and 325 (speakers). I googled protechnik and found this site. However, I'm curious to test how the speakers work. Has anyone set it up, or do they not work at all? Also, guy said his name was DJ, and gave this number 206-335-4713. I googled the # and found a scam report from Denver, CO. It mentioned buying speakers from DJ, who gave the same #. Seems these guys get around.

4/3/2010 Product or Service Involved: ProTechnik Hey "Not Giving My Name": I was approached by probably the same guy in the Denny's parking lot. Best Buy shirt, girl in the front seat, maroon SUV... That chick was KICKED!! This guy told me another guy had offered him $800 check, but he was afraid of getting ripped off. I told him I wasn't interested in the speakers at $800, and he asked what I would pay for them. I offered him $100, and he said no. When I started to leave, he offered a blowjob if I would buy them for $200. I've never had a blow job from a guy before, and I'm not a fag or anything, but I decided to take him up on it. It all worked out pretty well. The speakers are ok, the amp doesn't work, but the blowjob was a little better than mediocre. Thanks maroon SUV scammer!! I'd like to meet you at Denny's again for another "speaker system"!!

3/31/2010 Product or Service Involved: ProTechnik home theater system & amp I was approached by two guys at a Fred Meyers parking lot in a green Ford Expedition. They got me to come over to the back of their rig to show me some speaker equipment they supposedly needed to get rid of before going back to their job site of installing the other set at some rich guys house, blah blah blah. They said their boss would be there and would of taken the extra set. He was wearing a blue best buy shirt and was from Tukwila. They managed to scam me for a whopping 440 bucks! I even let one of the guys in my car as I drove back to work to get a draw! He showed me an invoice, and made everything look pretty convincing. I wasn't aware of the white van speaker scam until now. Apparently there is over 50 different brands being sold like these! They are super cheap chinese made, put in fancy boxing with exaggerated specs! My system didn't even have serial numbers, or instructions...yikes! I should have known that they don't put MSRP on barcodes....lesson learned. I'm now doing my best to get the word out on ebay about this scam. Unfortunately, most of the cheap stuff put on ebay are people who have been scammed, and are just trying to recoup some of their losses! Not a good idea. The best thing to do is keep spreading the word out there, so that we can slow this fraudulent scheme down.

3/30/2010 Product or Service Involved: ProTechnik Yup. Got taken for a ride... A white early to mid 20 something guy with a chick that stayed in the SUV got me for $200 for the ProTechnik PT-325 surround speakers and a PT-310A amp. They were in a Maroon midsize SUV at the Shell station next to Denny's on Central Avenue in Kent. He was pushing for $800, but luckily, only got $200!! He was wearing a BestBuy uniform and said, "This only happened once before, but they put one more of these on the truck than they were supposed to." I found this site while looking for a user manual. (mine was missing) It would be nice if there was stronger effort to bring sites like this to our attention.

They got my attention so we both over in the parkinhg lot of an bank of America(yea that was planned)wher he stared telling me how they had an exta set of a hometheather sysytem and h last time they took it back to work there boss took it, so they were trying to get some fast cash for it. 3/8/2010 Product or Service Involved: Protechnica Surround Sound Speaker System I do not know if I have gotten the brand name correct, but yeah this is actually my 2nd time getting caught up with these two people in a green suv with a trunk full of speaker systems. Once it happened in S. Tacoma, and 2yrs later here I am in the parking lot of ITT Tech and they got me again wowwww, hardcore salesmen, I got into a argument with one hefty looking guy as I was trying to get into my car, he got out of the passenger side saying "F that, how bout 220$" I told the guy once again, look I aint even paid rent yet, and this just does not seem legitimate enough to me.... well the guy started cussing up a storm at me not attacking me just got a complete attitude, so once he said "wtf man" i said "excuse me, come again, i am leaving goodbye" I could not believe I ran into these guys twice, I was puzzled on this. Anyways, good luck to them getting they money, they aint getting it from me. nope nope

3/5/2010 Product or Service Involved: ProTechnik (completely fraudulent brand) Customers in the greater Puget Sound area beware. An almost classic white van speaker scam - except that the van was black. They approached me at a gas station while i was gassing up and wanted to sell me ProTechnik equipment they said they had in their car in excess of what they need to install at a local hotel. They had everything: the classic "glossy flyer", boxes with an MSRP printed on them right under the barcode, and they tried to sell me various ProTechnik equipment said to be worth more than $5000 for a mere 600 bucks. They applied sincere high pressure tactics, and were even able to produce a fake bill for the hotel they said they were installing the stuff for. When i inquired about another product they had in the trunk they said they can't sell it because they need to get it installed at the customer's site, they would only have the two boxes with a receiver and a wireless speaker set. It just sounded too good to be true and I turned them down, which was EXTREMELY hard. I lied to them this was not my car and I had to get it back to my boss within 15min. Later I googled ProTechnik, the alleged German manufacturer I never heard of, and immediately noticed they use the "Vorsprung durch Technik" slogan - the same slogan used by Audi, the German car manufacturer. The "where to buy" link on their web site shows several locations all over the world - and all without an address. Their company history said they are headquartered in Bremen, Germany, so I called up an audiophile friend of mine in Bremen, Germany (yes, a small world!) who had never heard of this company neither. ProTechnik appears to be a completely fraudulent company specialized exclusively on white or in this case black van speaker scams, while violating Audi's slogan "Vorsprung durch Technik". A mere two hours later, a colleague tells me he bought an amp and speakers at a car wash. Guess what. He paid $500 for a ProTechnik "PT-310A" amp and a "PT-325" speaker set. It looked exactly like what I had seen earlier. We unboxed it - horrible material quality...

3/3/2010 Product or Service Involved: Paramax My friend was swindled by these guys last year in a QFC parking lot in Ballard, so when I saw them in the U-Village parking lot this afternoon I wasn't happy. They were talking to a college kid on his bicycle. They were selling out of a newer Ford Explorer which was kind of a metallic brown color. I could see the Paramax stereo box sitting in the back of the SUV, and they had the back open. The license plate had the word "CAPITOL" on the front plate set against a hot pink background. The rear license plate read "58W6183" but this number was printed on a piece of paper behind a piece of plastic. I assumed it was a rental car, but couldn't find anything about it online when I checked later. I quickly parked and was angry. I approached them and told them that they better leave immediately or I was going to call the cops. The kid jumped on his bike and got out there. I'm not sure he realized I wasn't talking to him... Or he may have just been trying to leave anyway, as I overheard him say he "couldn't do it" as I walked up. The guy selling the unit got pretty angry and got up in my face, saying, "You better bounce you tall motherf***er." He kept bumping into me asking if I was pushing him. I told him that I was not and that I needed him to leave. When he came at me he kind of drooped his head a couple of times strangely and his eyes looked very fatigued, perhaps indicating he was under the influence of a substance at the time. He was probably around 6' tall, Italian looking with fairly short, heavily-gelled, spiked curly black hair. He was very stocky and wore fairly nice clothing, including a wool coat. He was very tan as compared to your average seattle resident in March. They got back into their car, and I read aloud their license plate number to them. They told me to take a picture, as it would last longer. They left, and I talked to a U-Village security guard. Don't let these guys fool you, and report it when they do so something happens about it. It's complete bull these idiots keep getting away with this. They know the cops don't care that much and think it's too much of a hassle to try and catch them so they are getting brazen.

3/1/2010 Product or Service Involved: Kinetic and Paramax These same guys have tried this scam twice and didn't realize that I recognized them. The first time was in yakima - couple dudes pull up in an h3 talking about they just installed a sound system down the street and the boss over delivered on material, so they have a ridiculous deal to offer... BEAT IT! Then, one of my co-workers was at the bank and the same h3 with the same tool that I saw in yakima pulled up. He called me back at the office to see if I could look up his shit on the web. They followed him, and I recognized said tool and the h3 from 150 miles away! Total scam... IF IT SOUNDS TO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT IS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE. DON'T LET THE MISLEADING APPEARANCE OF THESE CLOWNS FOOL YOU. THEY WILL HAPPILY TAKE EVERY DOLLAR YOU ARE WILLING TO PAY FOR THEIR CRAP. DON'T BE A SUCKER

2/18/2010 Product or Service Involved: Paramax Same story as all the others in a parking lot by the "Y" at Roseaurs or whatever store that is, however he was in a green Astrovan. he was from Seattle supposedly installing a system in a house in Deer Park in 45 minutes, So I had to hurry and make up my mind. Gave me the "over shipped" story and it has been paid for already because I asked several times if it was stolen. Had a shirt on and brochure-looked legit. Even flashed me the speakers. I told him I only have 150 at the bank so we went there. I even held back another 20 and gave him 130. Still got scammed, but not as bad as others I think. It's the P-6 model. If anyone wants to have fun here is his number-I got it because he followed me to the bank and in case we got separated at a stop light... "If it's too good to be true, It normally is." 12/30/2009 Product or Service Involved: Guys who sale speakers from Vans Lol same as the rest of you guys...I think I paid 250 for 2 floorstanding speakers from what appeared to be legit reciepts and whatnot. The thing is I've had these speakers going on 5 yrs now and havn't had a problem with them. Matter of fact for the money I paid they sound pretty good! I mean they are definately not worth the MSRP they claim but for $250, I dont' feel like I was jipped at all. Matter of fact people have never complained about my speakers unless they are crappy neighbors who are bothered by them and they don't complain to me...I find out when the cops show up that my music is too loud lol. I know most of you here are embarrassed and pissed because you feel like you got scammed...but how many of you actually hooked em up and listened to them? Get over the embarrassment of getting suckered when you at least got some decent sounding speakers.

11/24/2009 Product or Service Involved: i cinema i-hd2 like most of you i was approched in shell gas station pumping gas at the intersection of 224th and highway 7...by a white early 2000's chevy blazer, white man in his late 20's was wearing paramax t shirt and hat, claimed to be audio tech... gave me some shit about one extra unit the warehouse through in and wanted to dump it fast. i thought it was legit because it had the security tape on the box and the security straps. i agreed to buying it and had my friend stay with him and go through the box with him and check everything out while i hit the atm. my friend thought everything looked good so i went ahead and bought it. the packaging shows no signs of tampering....etc... he got me of $220 the guy lives in seattle. i looked at his ID but i dont recall any other info from it.........lucky for him.

8/31/2009 Product or Service Involved: Divinci D-6 Speaker System Two guys in their mid 20s stopped me at Shell Gas Station with address 2461 4th Ave S & S Lander St. They came out with a story that they are Best Buy employees and one of them is even wearing a best buy shirt. They told me that someone put "extra" speaker in the van that they are supposed to pick up and that the speaker is worth over $3000. They told me that it was state of the art, has tons of funcitonality and has hundreds of dollars worth of cables. They even showed me picture of the speaker in a magazine. Unfortunately I fell for it and gave them $330 for the speaker. They seemed extremely desperate to complete their scam. Of course I am pissed and I know that I have been ripped off after I researched that the speakers are crap when I got home. I am reporting them to my local police station and maybe even to my local news station. I know I won't get my money back, but I don't want others to fell for this trick. The were driving a new ford expedition black with beige trim eddie bauer edition lic# 421 YMI. They pulled up next to me at a light and wanted to sell speakers. I fell for the same old story, they Premier Audio in Lake City gave them to many speakers. Bosses truck and so on. Funny thing, I just ran into them at my gym in west seattle. They were sitting in the parking lot. I walked by and look in the back of the SUV and saw a STACK of audio equipment. The driver ask me what I was doing and I asked him back "dont you remember me?". He immediately got out a started his scam lies. I told him I was calling the police. He said " no way" I have a legit business. I ended up calling the police and reporting him. He took off and left his two buddies at the gym. The police told me not to approach them anymore for my own safety.

7/16/2009 Product or Service Involved: Protechnik PT-100 Projector Thanks to this site, I saved $600 dollars, and got a free projector screen. After falling for the "white van scam, I had these two jackoffs follow me to my house to make sure this projector was the real deal. We hooked the Xbox 360 up and fired up this projector. I was getting a little weary because these dudes were trying to rush me. I went upstairs and googled the make and model of this equipment and realized what I had got myself into. So, I grabbed my pistol and told these guys they had 5 seconds to hit the road. I was hoping they were going to start some drama. 5/27/2009 Product or Service Involved: Paramax P-6 2 guys approached me from a blue SUV while walking back to my vehicle in a parking lot saying they had speakers for sale for cheap. Their boss had excess inventory and they got them for free. They asked how much I would pay for them, and showed me the magazine article about it. I was wary from the start, but the fact that the speakers were in the packaging and appeared untampered with combined with a super low price is what swayed me. I haven't had a chance to listen to them yet so there's still the chance that they will perform, but I felt compelled to report this because the main page here quoted my experience down to the last detail, even as far as asking me to 'get some beer or a keg' if I ever see them around. One guy had a gimp with a cane which I assume is to help garner sympathy and increase sales. I have no doubt this is a coordinated effort, and someone should pursue legal action against these people. I had a difficult time finding relevant information about Paramax online, and most of the web search results were for craigslist ads which are also likely perpetuating the scam. I did manage to locate their web site, paramaxaudio.com, but it doesn't offer any additional information besides what is on the speaker box and in the magazine. I did a domain whois excerpt on paramaxaudio.com, and it leads back to trtri.com which is registered anonymously, however it does also lead to more craigslist posts looking to hire sales people. Extremely experienced scammers, stopped me asked if I knew anyone who would buy 1200 worth of speakers. They used a time constraint to confuse me and set a sense of urgency. They gave me the exact same story that everyone else has heard about the delivery overstock and not wanting to take it back to their boss. They were VERY believable! From someone who usually doesn't give people like this the time of day, somehow they coerced me into buying the speakers. Afterwards I was completely sketched out and knew that something had to of been wrong. IT's a total scam!!!

10/19/2008 Product or Service Involved: Olin Ross 703 Series Speakers I was heading into work at the Best buy in Bellevue and when I got out of my car to go to work this New Silver Esclade with two white males in their mid twenties pulled up asking if I wanted to get some nice speakers for cheap. They said they got them from a warehouse they worked at and that they needed to get rid of them before they went to see their boss at a construction company they work at. They also said they almost sold them for like $1200 right before that and they would take what they could get because their boss would just take the speakers. I was stupid and told them I had maybe 200 in the bank. They kept pushing me to buy it and said 200 was fine, but they wanted some beer money if i could get them an extra 50. I told them to forget it because I didn't have as much as they wanted and as i was walking away they called me back and they said they would take whatever I could get.. I got them 150 and I got the speakers and that was the end of it. I only bought them to sell them for more because that was the rest of my money. I am flat broke and want to sell these speakers for 100-200 bucks...

10/8/2008 Product or Service Involved: Olin Ross 860 surround sound system 5.1 The exact same situation happened to me this afternoon at the local Wal-Mart parking lot. Two caucasion males, both in their mid twenties, approached me in their black 2007 Ford Expedition. They said they were trying to get rid of a surround sound system fast. They showed me a catalog and receipts of how much the system was worth, so I of course believed them. I offered them 250, and they in turn asked if i would also give them so weed or coke on top of that. In the end they got me for 300 dollars. As soon as i could get to a computer i googled the olin ross brand and saw all of the SCAM postings, i felt so foolish for ever falling for that shit! I guess all you can do is learn from your mistakes, right!

9/18/2008 Product or Service Involved: Olin Ross 703 Speakers I was at the gas station and was approached by the guy in front of me about buying speakers from him. There were 2 white guys in their 30's looking like they were still holding onto their early 20's. They were driving a newer White Cadallic Escalade that was supposed to belong to the son of the owner of their company. I was told they were delivery guys and that the warehouse workers accidentially gave them an extra set of speakers and they didn't want to give to the bosses asshole son. They told me that they had almost sold them to a guy for $1500 just a little while before me but all he had was an out of state check. I was shown a magazine that had these speakers listed for over $3000. I offered them $275 and they took it. Looks like I was the one that got took. He did say that he had recently moved here from Houston and was living in Kent, WA with his girlfriend. Looks like they have moved on from Houston to the Seattle area. I went against my better judgment out of greed and paid the price. Buyers beware.

I am absolutely sick to my stomach for being so gullible to fall for this! Getting the tires rotated on my truck, a White SUV pulls up and asks for a smoke and then goes on to talk about this GREAT Surround Sound system they have. The guy tells me, 'this happened once before with a 50" LCD, we went to the boss and gave it to him only to be given a 6 pack of beer... This time if we make a buck or to on it we've done right by somebody giving them a GREAT deal...' I bought it hook, line, and sinker! Always Remember what your Mom always told you... "If the situation seems to good to be true it is!" I lost $300 bucks thinking I was getting a good deal and helping these guys out somehow. I KNEW not to do anything like this and they story was so well rehearsed, I got over whelmed! Run! Run like you've never run before if ANYONE in a vehicle asks you to buy something!

Two guys, one white and one African American driving a dark blue SUV with no plates, I only noticed that when they were driving away. They said that they had gotten two of these systems from there work but three had been brought out to them and they were trying to get some money for it on their lunch break cause their boss would notice if they went back to work. They showed me the invoice for the two systems they had purchased and a magazine add that listed the price for $3,200 or so. Got me for $250. I haven't listened to them yet so I hope they at least work. I kind of figured that everything wasn't right, like they were stolen or parts were replaced, but they opened one that was unopened and showed me all the components so I decided to take a chance, a large scale scam never even occurred to me. As soon as I arrived home I checked online and found this.

I paid 145. bucks for the whole system, and it works 10 times better and sounds 10 times better then the sony system i paid 700 bucks for. who says it's a scam? if anything I think I got scammed for the sony system. maybe the "big guys" are getting a little worried that these guys are cutting in on their monopoly. you know what if you don't want to buy the speakers from those guys, then just don't do it....pretty simple.

8/11/2008 Product or Service Involved: DiVinci D-7 Home Theatre System I was on the phone in a parking lot in Bellevue, WA and these two guys in a burgandy Ford Expedition drove up and asked me if I wanted a home theatre system. He parked next to me and asked me again if I was interested in a home theatre system. He got out and opened the back of the Expedition and showed me 5 or 6 boxes of the DiVinci D-7 Home Theatre System and told me how they were only supposed to deliver two of them but the warehouse had given them three. He showed me the magazine that listed the retail price at about $3800.00. He told me that he had another guy that was going to buy the set for $600.00 but couldn't take that much out of the ATM. I offered him $500.00, thinking of course that I was getting a great deal and he put the speaker set in my truck, I gave him the money and the deal was done. Within about three and a half hours, I looked up the speakers online to see how much they were worth, and came across this website and the scam. Ouch!!

They even showed me a magazine with the speakers. They claimed they worked for "Premier Audio" in Kirkland and their "boss" was waiting for their shipment, but they would say they never received one of the speaker system. Anyways, they suckered me and I bought a $300 OLIN ROSS 5 way speaker system. I got home, thinking I had a deal, until I searched yahoo...Beware of this SCAM, Lesson learned the hard way. These speakers are pieces of crap!!

The guy doing the talking wants $600, even asking me how much I could withdraw from the ATM. He says his boss always picks up extra speakers for his home, and since he was delivering them he could get cash for them and no one would be the wiser. I pay $320, which they call "beer money". They drop off the speakers and leave in a hurry.

I had just walked out of the bank when two guys in a black Dodge SUV drove up and asked if I needed a sound system. The drive jumped out and began his spiel. He was trying for $500, but I was not interested. After I turned it down, his partner jumped out and told me the other guy was being greedy. He finally talked me into buying a set for $200. The driver than started up again trying to get more money out of me. While the scam itself may be hard to get legally, I know for sure the passenger is carrying an illegal weapon. I asked to see the system first, so he pilled out a knife and opened the box. The knife was a good eight inches long. Also, he appeared to have a gun holstered on his left side. In Washington State, with a concealed pistol license, the gun may be legal, but you cannot carry a knife over 4". While it is not much, it may be something to get them to at least start talking if anyone catches up with them.

They're worth $2000 but I'll sell them to you for $200." He showed my boyfriend a receipt for the speakers and everything. They do look legit, but they are obviously not. DO NOT FALL PREY TO THIS SCAM!!!!! You really can't get something for nothing.

They pulled next to me and started to tell me about some speakers they were selling. At first I told them I wasn't interested. But they would not back off so I pulled over to see exactly what they were offering. they told me they worked for some home audio shop in Seattle and they just got back from a job in Auburn. They said they had some extra set of Divinci D6 speakers and they had to get rid of them because if their boss found out they would be in a lot of trouble. they told me that it was a shipping error and they had to get rid of the speakers. They told me about how other people wanted to buy them but they didn't want to take checks. They then got really aggressive and started to really push me. they showed me the order forms and showed me the msrp price on the box that said 3029. I thought it was too good to be true so I bought them for 300 dollars. I thought I got one hell of a deal. but as i later found out I was just scammed. I did some research and found this site. One thing they did was give a phone number and some warranty number. when I figured out i got scamed i called the number and somebody else picked up. I asked for brandon (the guy who sold it to me) the guy who picked up told me those guy's were some punk kids who ripped me off. He then gave me his number but i haven't been able too reach them. I talked to a local cop but he told me he needed at least a licsense plate number off the vehicle. so watch out there were three guy's they told me there names were brandon, josh and aaron. they were in a 06 or 07 dark gray explorer. they had alot of speaker in the trunk and they said they worked in some audio shop in seattle. It happened in Auburn in the downtown area by the hospital.

Gave me the song and dance about how the warehouse gave them 1 extra system and they needed to get rid of it quick before they met there mgr at the next install in 20 minutes. They had an invoice and a brochure with the M.S.R.P. for 2495. Said they wanted 1000 but i told them my atm only would give me 200 per day. They took it and i got stuck with a piece of crap system that wont work with my tv. The one white guy kept asking for me to get an extra 20 out since it was such a steal of a deal for me so they could get some beer. They also said some line about them just wanting quick cash for strippers and beer.(weekend party $) Bottom line...seems to good to be true. Then it is! 3/6/2008 Product or Service Involved: Kirsch Home Cinema & Speakers Was waved down by two young men in a grey SUV in a Safeway parking lot. They explained they had just picked up some audio equipment for there boss at a warehouse. They stated the warehouse had mistakenly gave them more than was on the invoice. They showed me an invoice for 4 items. Then they opened the SUV doors and showed me how they had eight items. They said they worked for an audio install company. That they were in a hurry to get to a work site to do an install. That they didnt want to give there boss the overstock as he would just keep it himself. They wanted to sell it so they could get some quick money. They pulled out a magazine with the product in the van showing its value as follows: Kirsch K3 5.1 Home Cinema $2495 and Kirsch K2080 Loudspeakers $2995. This was like a $5500 dollar value. They said they would give it too me for like $1200. Then the one guy got out his Iphone and brought up the website confirming the price and value I was getting ( Kirschloudspeakers.com) I said I don't think I have that much to give you. They decided it would be fine to take $1000. They said they needed cash. Convienently there was a bank right across the parking lot. I gave them $1000 cash and thought i made a huge bargain. Little did i know. When I got home and looked the equipment up I was shocked to see all the web pages with WhiteVanScam pop up. These guys were smooth talking, fast talkers. They are really good. I am not one to be scammed. I was not even looking on the market for speakers. These guys should be locked up for deceptive and fraudulent sales practices.

2/29/2008 Product or Service Involved: Divinci Divinci tower speakers. Got into the bank parking lot and a guy in a green van rolls up and asks if I want a killer deal on top of the line speakers. He had all the magazines and stuff to make it look legit. He claimed that he had a job at the local casino that ordered to many speakers and that the union guys would just walk off with them if he left them and that his boss told him just to sell them to recoup some of the cost. He said he sold a pair to a guy in another lot for $600 when They are worth $1900 a piece. I talked him down to $200 which I at the time though, ok they are either stolen or this guy is going to follow me home and turn me into a hand puppet. Well I get home and found this site which confirms my first thought that this is a scam.

My red flags went up, but the damn magazine sealed the deal. Should have looked at the date....anyway..... Got it home, even got dropped off by them cause I lived only a few minutes away. Could tell the quality sucked just looking at the remote. And the name confused me, I was thinking Pro Logic in my head. It is probably worth $50 at the most. But on the bright side, at least it works. The sub puts out about the same sound as my computer subwoofer, center is halfway devent, and the tweeters leave a lot to be desired. And the remote, being as cheap as it is actually controls the sound to a decent degree on each individual speaker. Well, on the bright side, it works and I didn't buy a paperweight. I took his drivers licence number and made him call me on his cell phone. dude also tried to score more money by saying hey got any more for beer and the strip club. Its all a scam and i got hussled but the speakers work so far they just sound like shit.

12/23/2003 Product or Service Involved: Digital pro audio Very good scammer (Tanned, clean cut, possibly Hispanic, about 6'1" late twenties) in a newer copper colored van at the Tacoma mall, I feel like I must have sucker written across my chest. He sold me a Digital pro audio 5.1 system, "he was saving for his mother" for 200.00. This guy is good, very good, a real actor. His story was that he was installing speakers at the casino near the mall and had these left over ones they had to get rid of as it was a overstock item they could not return. I have never been successfully scammed before and have rationalized that what I've paid has gone to education and entertainment. But the real entertainment will be when these SOB's are caught!

11/14/2003 Product or Service Involved: Theater Research I was driving along when I was flagged over by these two men in a van. They offered these speakers for an unbelievable price. I was intrigued and they offered to sell them for $800.00 for the pair. A retail price was printed on the box at $1,499.00 each. I still felt taken and did not agree to the deal. I felt that people so eager for money instead of keeping the 'extra' speakers for themselves should not get that much money for nothing. With their 'won't take no for an answer' approach, I counter offered $200.00 because that was honestly all the spendable money I had, they said they would take $300.00 or offer the deal to someone else. I told them to meet me at the ATM in five minutes after I ran home to get my bank card which they agreed to. When I stopped at my house, I checked the website that they told me about http://www.trtheaterresearch.com and the company seemed legit so I did meet the pair and purchased the speakers. With my conscience still bothering me, I decided to look into this whole deal on the internet and have found your website. Granted, the speakers are extremely nice and do outperform my two year old SONY speakers. I did not feel that I had been taken advantage of until I found your website. Now, I'm concerned and hope that more information can be found.

9/7/2003 Product or Service Involved: surround sound tr-1110 speakers i was in my way to work, when a guy in a white van stopped me and told me that it was his best day of his life, then he told me to pull over because he had a great deal to offer me, he told me that his company gave him a double order set of home theater speakers that he wasn't suppose to get, so i got excited for it, he wanted around 600 dlls for the speakers, (just a pair) he told me that they are 1000 each and that they are very good speakers. i am 17 and i know a lot of this, so i told him that i needed a better price, well we kept on talking and he kept on giving me offers, and right when i was about to leave, he tells me well hey i need to sale this before going back to my company because i am gonna meet my boss in 20 min, so give me 200 for both, so i was like ok!, well when i was about to leave he told me that i owed him 20 dlls for beer, (in a joke) and when i was driving i was like HAHA stupid u just got jacked!, but i guess i was the one that got jacked, so be carefull, everything that its trying to be sold illegally, its not worth it, think about what ur about to do, oh yeah, and he did had a fake receipt of his order, magazines etc...

8/27/2003 Product or Service Involved: Theater Research I got scammed by one middle aged man (driver) and a younger very pressuring guy in a nice suv, both fitting the description on your website. I ended up paying $500 for two towers. I was verrrry skeptical about it and should have just said no. They were actually pretty sneaky and caught me in a casino parking lot as I was leaving. How appropriate for their intent. Nevertheless if I could meet up with them again I'd put the speakers right back where they belong. Up their A**!!

7/23/2003 Product or Service Involved: Don't remember As I was leaving the bank parking lot just outside of Seattle, WA (Bellvue) a white van motioned to me to pull over and check out this great deal he just came across. I was still in the parking lot, so I took a look. His company had ordered 10 speakers and the manufacture had accidentally sent 10 pair of speakers (20 in all). He had to hurry and sell them before he got back to work because his boss would confiscate the extras. It rarely happened, and I was lucky to have this opprotunity when it did. He showed me laminated magazine articles that gave these speakers glowing reviews and higher prices than what he could sell them to me for. It seems that his rock bottom was $200 for the pair, but fortunately, I only had $40 on me. He encouraged me to jump back over to the ATM and take out the difference, but at that time my balance was zero. He kept asking what I could part with for these great speakers. I don't think that he believed that I was down to my last $40. If I had the money, I may have done it. He was very persistent. Since then, I've worked in an electronics store in the Phoenix area and every once in a while someone will come in asking about a brand of speaker or receiver that I had never heard of. I'd even look for the company online, but we'd never find a company web site. It's amazing that they're still around!

5/21/2003 Product or Service Involved: Digital CRAP My good friend just came over and told me all about these great speakers he just bought. He was so excited about the sale, he was repeating lines likes "oh man, I was in the right place at the right time" and "I came up this time", only for me to stop him mid-sentence and tell him about the scam he just fell for. We eventually came to this site, and read all we needed to read. I have a few things to say. First off, to the people who are reporting "great sound" and saying it's not such a bad deal, I think you are nuts. You either have never heard quality home/car audio equipment, or you are probably one of the sales scam artist trying to schmooze your products to your buyers. Second, I am a real salesman for a living. This van practice is a hustle not a sale. (The difference?) Sales are ethical to at least some extent, while the whole van approach clearly has no ethics at all. Responsible sales people build rapport and sooth buyer�s remorse with honesty and service, not by running away and fooling people with false prices, and material to back it up. Anyone can hustle.... There are a zillion passive & suggestible people running around ready to get served. Stop fronting on yourself by claiming to be a salesman just because you can take advantage of a person's weakness. You are all truly slaves to money. Smile, it won't last long!

4/3/2003 Product or Service Involved: Acoustic Response Just to clear a few things up about this sales technique. I wish to remain anonymous but I was one of these "horrible" people for 4 years. The fact of the matter is it is a legitimate business with licenses and is run by a multinational corporation. The speakers are wholesaled to the sales people for approximately $200 U.S. per pair and are sold for straight cash commission which is legally reported to the IRS. Basically what it comes down to is the age old addage, you get what you pay for. The speakers, while not top of the line, are not total crap either. SO if you paid anything under about $500 for them you got an ok deal. The markup is generally considerably less than the mark up on say a $300 dollar boom box at Circuit City. The people who sell them make most of their money on sheer volume, NOT overpricing. It is a classic hustle that anyone who has any street sense should be able to spot immediately. Please post this as it is the truth of the matter and the only reason I remain anonymous is to not alienate some old friends who are good hard working business men. By the way, I'd still be doing this exciting living if not for getting married and settling down. The funnest job I ever had.

3/10/2003 Product or Service Involved: Digital Pro Audio I was driving and was stopped at an intersection and a guy was hollering at me from a lincoln navigator asking me if I was interested in some speakers. We pulled into an apartment complex, he gave me the speach about how they gave him double what they were supposed to and he had this extra set that he needed to get rid of within 20 minutes, or his boss would just take it for himself like he had supposedly done before with plasma tv. He showed me invoices that said the system was worth $3600. It was two huge towers, center, two rear and a bass module. They tried to sell it to me for $1000 and said they had another buyer but he wanted to pay in check. I told them I would for $500. They agreed. I went to the ATM, went behind safeway, and exchanged goods. He said that these were such awesome speakers that he wanted them for himself but couldn't hold on to them. He said if I was just going to turn around and sell them he asked for a cut, but he would rather me use them myself. That was the line that convinced me. He even gave me his cell number (never actually checked it out) I hooked them up a while later and they sounded awesome. Totally blew away the Bose set up that I had. If you have someone selling you DPA products take advantage, con them down and get good stuff cheap.

2/19/2003 Product or Service Involved: digital pro audio a guy in a gray van yelled at me from acroos the wendy's parking lot. he told me a story and i believed him. the home theatre system with two towers, thinking i was being scammed i told him he has to hook it up for me at my house. he did! they sound awesome. the whole set for only 350.00, what a deal. it is not a scam it is a bargian. thank you very much my wife loves the set my friends love the set and so do i. thank you again mr wendy's. p.s. please come back so i can buy more!!!!!!!!!!

1/9/2003 Product or Service Involved: AudioPro 2011 Two guys in a white van yelled to get attention, then went into a spiel about having "extra" speakers left over from an installation job. They could't take them back because the boss's son just kept everything that wasn't delivered. They showed articles attesting to a price tag of $900 each. They also had warranty cards with a California address. They said they were desperate and would take a beating for cash. Paid $150 for a pair. They are large floor speakers with black cloth coverings and input s for either speaker wire of cable connections. Haven't plugged them in yet, but they probably won't be the quality sought.

11/3/2002 Product or Service Involved: Dogg Digital audio I was visiting relatives in Vancouver. I went downtown to waste part of the day when they had to work, when these two guys yelled at me from their car. They asked if I wanted some speakers, and kept insisting even after I said I had plenty of speakers. I was in the market for a pair of floor speakers so I was kind of interested. Well I walked over to them and they told me that they had some extra speakers that were shipped, I know I should have just left, but I didn't. They showed me a magazine with a picture and It said 1499 a peice. Well luckily I told them I was very poor, so they pretty much let me name the price. We went round and round a little bit and we finally decided on 220 for the pair. I got them cash, and they loaded them up and left. Well I got their license plate. They had CA plates and said that they worked in Salem. I Was a little suspicious after, but I had no idea that this was going on anywhere. I paid 110 a piece, so I probably still did not get taken for much, but still.

7/12/2002 Product or Service Involved: Digital Pro Audio DPA SLT 2.8 Mini Tower Speakers Yeah, I got caught in the scam too here in Spokane, WA. I did smell a rat when the smooth talking guy in th white mini van interrupted my Wendy's taco salad to tell me his sob story, but in the end I gave him $400 for a pair of Digital Pro Audio DPA SLT 2.8 Mini Tower speakers. Of course I suspected I might have been scammed and immediately jumped on the internet like the rest of you, and after finding this site and reading some of the negative reviews, I was pretty nervous when I hooked them up last night. Man was I relieved and pleasantly surprised! I have a pretty nice 250 watt Pioneer receiver, and these babies really sounded great with it. The bass was powerful and the highs were crisp. I spent the evening blasting everything from Fleetwood Mac to Led Zeppelin to Bach's Organ Concerto, and frankly they sounded better than the old Bose speakers I originally had hooked up. I didn't crank it all the way up (way too loud!), but they handled lots of power with no detectable distortion, no hum or hiss - nice! So for all you guys that are so down on yourselves thinking you got screwed - cheer up! These are pretty good speakers. I'm just sorry I didn't buy another pair!

6/13/2002 Product or Service Involved: Dogg Digital speakers Followed into a park and ride and said that he had these extra speakers that he could not take back to the warehouse because last time his boss reemed him for it. Sold me two loud speakers and a home theater system. When I got home I looked on the internet to check and see the quality of them and what popped up but the white van scam. Check was cashed right away for $150. Any info on getting money back would be great. It was a white van and the guy was in his early twenties whit blonde hair and a real talker his lisence plate number was Oregon plates XHC-376.

4/11/2002 Two guys pulled up and asked if I wanted to buy expensive speakers for cheap. Being naive I accepted and paid $600 for two Dogg Digital Audio towers as well as a home theater system. At the time it seemed legit, the guys had little badges from there stores and they said there was a warranty in the box and stuff, so I assumed it was real. I am wondering if there is anything I can do to retrieve my money or get at least some of it back. 9/17/2001 Same as other, but Blue Mercury Villager in Fishers Landing area. They are installers off a big job where they ordered too many speakers. Since the owners son runs things, they "know" he just keeps them. They "go" for $2,400/pair. After saying no several times and listening to the ATM speal, I took a pair for $250 with a check (promptly cashed). When I plugged them in, I was pleasantly surprised that they actually worked. Not as well as my Paradyms, but s'all right. Then I read all the reviews and I just can't wait to tell the wife what an idiot she married.
